Why I Created This Theme

Some memorials don’t need elaborate borders or flowing florals. Sometimes, the deepest love is expressed through simplicity.

The Simply Stunning Memorial Program was born from one of the hardest losses I’ve ever witnessed — the passing of a 22-year-old coworker named Joe. He didn’t come to work one morning. We waited, we called, we hoped. A few days later, word came through his mother that he’d been in a car accident up north. And just like that, a bright young life was gone.

When Words Aren’t Enough

At that time, I had only recently begun creating funeral templates — still learning, still building this mission of comfort. When I heard the news, my heart ached for his mother. I could only imagine the numbness, the fog that descends when grief is too heavy to process.

So I reached out to our manager, who was in contact with her, and asked, “Would it be all right if I created something to honor him?” She said yes.

And that’s how Simply Stunning came to be.

Designed for the Days You Can’t Think Straight

When I sat down to design Joe’s program, I kept hearing one thought in my mind: Keep it simple. His mother didn’t need complicated steps or endless choices. She needed something that would let her breathe.

So I created a layout that was clean, black and white, timeless. Something anyone could use, regardless of age, gender, or style. It could carry a young man’s photo or a grandmother’s favorite hymn — equally elegant, equally respectful.

I also created matching pieces — a slideshow and poster — so everything would come together with quiet harmony. Nothing flashy, just peaceful.

When the program was done, I sent it to her. She called it a godsend. She said it gave her something to hold onto when her mind couldn’t focus, when even small tasks felt impossible. “It just made everything easier,” she told me, “and that helped me begin to heal.”

Her gratitude was humbling, but truly, I was the one grateful — that God had let me play a small role in easing her burden.

A Design for Every Kind of Loss

Over time, I realized Simply Stunning had become one of the most universal templates I’d ever created. It fits everyone — men, women, children — because at its heart, it’s about love made visible through grace and simplicity.

It’s a design for when your heart can’t handle anything extra, when you just need things to work and still feel beautiful. It’s dignity without decoration, clarity without complication.

Sometimes the most profound beauty is in the quietest design. That’s what Simply Stunning represents — peace through simplicity, love through stillness, hope through design.
