Where He Found His Peace
An Outdoor Funeral Program for Someone Who Loved Nature
Some people have a place where they seem most completely themselves. It may be beside a river early in the morning, walking through the woods, watching deer move quietly through the trees, or simply sitting somewhere far enough from everyday life to hear the wind and the water.
For someone who loved the outdoors, those places often become part of how we remember them. A favorite fishing spot. A hunting trip taken every fall. Weekends at the cabin. A mountain road they knew by heart. Or perhaps they simply felt more at peace beneath an open sky than almost anywhere else.
Where He Found His Peace was created with that kind of person in mind. The deer, riverbank, trees, rocks, and warm woodland colors create a peaceful setting for photographs and memories without making the program feel overly formal.
Although I originally designed Where He Found His Peace with a man in mind, there is nothing about the design that limits it to a man's memorial. For a woman who loved the mountains, wildlife, hunting, fishing, camping, or quiet time outdoors, this design could feel every bit as personal.
A Funeral Program That Reflects the Places He Loved
A funeral program doesn't have to look like every other funeral program. Sometimes the most meaningful design is one that immediately reminds you of the person you're honoring.
For someone who loved nature, that might mean remembering the places where he was happiest. Maybe everyone knew where to find him when the weather was good. Maybe his stories frequently began with a fishing trip, a hunt, a camping adventure, or something that happened at the cabin. Maybe the outdoors was simply where life slowed down and he could breathe.
Those memories can become part of the program itself. Along with photographs of family and important moments, you might include pictures from hunting or fishing trips, favorite outdoor places, vacations, or ordinary afternoons that now mean far more than anyone realized when the photograph was taken.
The warm, natural setting of Where He Found His Peace was designed to surround those photographs without competing with them. The scenery helps establish the feeling of the program, while the person you're remembering remains at the center of it.
Choose Four Pages or Eight Pages
Every funeral program template includes both a 4-page and an 8-page option, so you can choose the amount of space that feels right without having to choose another design.
The 4-page version includes everything you need for a complete memorial program: the front cover, the order of service, the obituary or life story, and the back cover. The back can also be personalized with a thank-you message, poem, quote, service information, or another remembrance that feels meaningful to your family.
The four pages are created from one standard 8½ × 11-inch sheet of paper. Print the first two template pages back-to-back, fold the sheet in half, and you have a finished four-page program.
If you have more photographs and memories you would like to include, the 8-page version simply adds another sheet and gives you additional room for photographs, stories, favorite sayings, family memories, scripture, poetry, or other details that help tell the person's story.
I designed the templates this way intentionally. If four pages are all you need, you aren't giving anything important up—the program is already complete. If you want eight pages, the additional pages fit naturally inside and give you more room to remember.
Personalize It in Canva
The template is designed to be personalized in Canva, so you can replace the sample photographs and wording with your own. Add your loved one's name and dates, choose the photographs you love most, write your own tribute, and change the wording throughout the program to make it personal.
You don't need to make it complicated. Sometimes a favorite photograph, a story everyone in the family knows, and a few honest words can say more about someone than pages of formal writing ever could.
And don't feel that every photograph needs to be formal. The picture of him holding the fish he was ridiculously proud of, sitting around a campfire, standing beside his favorite dog, or laughing on a family camping trip may tell you far more about his life than a studio portrait ever could.
When you're finished, you can download your completed program as a PDF and print the number of copies you need.
If Where He Found His Peace feels like the right way to remember your loved one, the template is $10, and you can get the Where He Found His Peace funeral program template here.
Looking for Something a Little Different?
The outdoors can mean something different to everyone. One person may have loved hunting before sunrise, another fishing beside a quiet lake, and another simply sitting on the porch looking toward the mountains. The right funeral program should feel like the person you're remembering, not simply fit into a category.
If this isn't quite the right design, you can browse the Funeral Program Templates for Husband, Dad & Brother collection and look for one that reminds you more of him.
And although this collection is shown primarily with men, don't let the sample photographs determine which design you choose. If you're remembering a mother, wife, sister, grandmother, or friend who loved the outdoors, a design like Where He Found His Peace can be personalized for her just as easily.
There doesn't have to be a perfect explanation for why one design feels right. Sometimes you simply see it and think, that's him—or that's her.
If Making the Program Yourself Is Just Too Much Right Now
Grief can make even simple decisions feel like one decision too many. If opening Canva, choosing photographs, arranging pages, and finding the right words is simply more than you can handle right now, you don't have to do it yourself.
Through my Funeral Concierge Service, I can create the funeral program for you. And you don't need to arrive with everything figured out. In fact, you don't need to arrive with anything figured out.
After you purchase the service, I'll create a private area online for us where you can tell me about your loved one, share photographs and memories, and give me whatever information you do have. We'll talk about the person you're remembering, the life they lived, the people and things they loved, and what you would like the service and program to feel like.
From there, I'll help you put the pieces together. I can write the obituary or life story, help you plan and organize the order of service, help choose meaningful wording and remembrances, and even write a custom poem created specifically for your loved one. I'll guide you through the decisions one at a time and then create the finished funeral program for you.
