A Funeral Program for a Beloved Cat

There is something uniquely difficult about saying goodbye to a cat who has been woven into the ordinary rhythm of your life. They were there in the quiet moments—curled beside you, waiting for you, following you from room to room, finding the warmest patch of sunlight, or somehow knowing when you needed a little extra company.

When I created Where Gentle Paws Walk, I wanted it to feel less like saying goodbye and more like imagining a beloved little companion somewhere peaceful. The soft clouds, gentle rainbow, flowers, and dreamy pastel colors create a comforting place for photographs and memories without making the program feel heavy or sad.

It is a sweet, peaceful design for remembering a cat who was never “just a pet,” but a cherished part of the family.

A Gentle Way to Remember the Little Things

One of the hardest parts of losing a pet is realizing how many little pieces of everyday life belonged to them. The sound of paws coming down the hallway. Their favorite place to sleep. The way they greeted you—or deliberately ignored you until they decided you had earned their attention. The toy they carried around, the chair they claimed as their own, or the funny habit that everyone in the family knew.

Those are often the memories worth preserving.

A memorial program gives you a place to bring some of those pieces together. You might include favorite photographs from different years, a short story about how your cat became part of your family, a poem or quote that brings you comfort, or a few sentences about the personality that made your little friend completely unforgettable.

The Where Gentle Paws Walk design was created to surround those memories with something soft and hopeful. The watercolor-style clouds, rainbow, flowers, and pastel pinks and lavenders create a tender setting while still allowing your cat's photographs and story to remain the most important part of the program.

Choose Four Pages or Eight Pages

Every funeral program template includes both a 4-page and an 8-page option, so you can choose the amount of space that feels right without having to choose another design.

The 4-page version includes everything you need for a complete pet memorial program: the front cover, the order of service, the obituary or life story, and the back cover. There is also an optional releasing ceremony you can use if it feels meaningful for your family. The back can be personalized with a thank-you message, poem, quote, service information, or another remembrance that feels right for your pet.

The four pages are created from one standard 8½ × 11-inch sheet of paper. Print the first two template pages back-to-back, fold the sheet in half, and you have a finished four-page program.

If you have more photographs and memories you would like to include, the 8-page version simply adds another sheet. Print the additional two template pages back-to-back, fold that sheet in half, and place it inside the first one. Those additional four pages give you more room for photographs, favorite memories, quotes, another poem, or other details that help tell your pet's story. The pet version also includes a pebble-signing remembrance, giving family and friends another meaningful way to participate in saying goodbye.

I designed the templates this way intentionally. If four pages are all you need, you aren't giving anything important up—the program is already complete. If you want eight pages, the additional pages fit naturally inside and give you more room to remember.

Personalize It in Canva

The template is designed to be personalized in Canva, so you can replace the sample photographs and wording with your own. Add your cat's name and dates, choose the photographs you love most, write your own tribute, and change the wording throughout the program to make it personal.

You don't need to make it complicated. Sometimes a favorite photograph and a few honest words say more than pages of writing ever could.
